Barn Owl Over the Dunes
From £32.00
A barn owl flies straight at the lens over marram grass, wings raised and that unmistakable heart-shaped face locked forward. A different moment from the fence-post barn owl, this one caught mid-hunt rather than launching.

The barn owl's heart-shaped facial disc works like a satellite dish, funnelling the faintest rustle of a vole in grass straight to ears set at slightly different heights, letting it pinpoint prey in total darkness by sound alone. Almost pure white underneath, it hunts low over rough field margins and verges at dusk, and a run of hard winters or wet summers can hit its numbers hard.
