Grouse on the Lookout
From £32.00
A red grouse stands full height on a lichen-covered rock, surveying the moor rather than hiding in it. A more upright, alert pose than the birds tucked into the heather, this one's clearly keeping watch.

The red grouse is found almost nowhere else in the world outside Britain and Ireland's upland moors, where it depends almost entirely on heather for food and cover. Males carry a bright red comb above the eye, brighter still through the spring breeding season, while the duller, better-camouflaged females do almost all of the incubating and chick-rearing alone.
